Raina Kabaivanska is not only a brilliant singer, but
also a wonderful actress and a fascinating lady. Therefore, the videos present
her more completely than the CDs.
For me, the best recording of Raina Kabaivanska is the
Verona's version of "Madama Butterfly". A phenomenal artistic achievement!!!
And she is in her best vocal form.
There are two videos of "Tosca" with Kabaivanska,
but I heartily propose you the film (1976, Decca). The singer is extremely beautiful
(the most beautiful Tosca on video!!!) and her lyric soprano voice sounds wonderfully
even in the dramatic moments of the part.
In the star team a of "Il trovatore" Raina really shines
and overshadows her famous partner Placido Domingo. You could never hear the
aria from Act IV more expressively performed!
In "Falstaff" Raina Kabaivanska demonstrates her
unlimited talent as a comic actress and she wins again.
